Warriors of Cancer

Anyone I’ve encountered over the last 20 years has eventually received a painting from me, as a gift. Over 200 paintings hang on walls symbolizing a time when I cared enough to stand in front of a canvas for 20+ hours creating their gift. I cannot sell my artwork! Unless I know who I am painting for, it has no meaning. I heard a story about rock painting for people in Roswell’s Cancer Unit and within an hour, War Paint was born. I asked if any of my friends wanted a painting, for free, to celebrate their battle with cancer, ALS, Autism, PTSD and withing 3 hours, 22 requests came through! I didn’t know there were so many people this close to me were fighting for their lives and I couldn’t afford to buy all that canvas and paint- and there were three paintings clear across the United States that need to be shipped! So, I asked God for guidance and created a fundraiser. It’s working!

Here’s how it works; First, I ask anyone who would like to tell their story and who would like a painting to tell me what they want a painting of. I share their amazing story, diagnosis, their name, and their painting requests asking for donations for the painting and shipping. Anyone donating will see their donations at work because their name will be placed on the frame of the paintings showing our ‘warrior’ who donated. When the paintings are completed Heather will take a professional photo of the front and back of the painting for prints! We will accumulate all of our ‘warriors’ stories and paintings into a book and also give that away.

I hope to raise awareness that almost everyone knows someone who is fighting for survival. I hope to create a community that holds these ‘warriors of life’ up, giving them celebration and support. I hope to have a painting that represents bravery, love, pride and support by bringing us all together in one beautiful project.

This is War Paint- Paintings by Me! Gifted to Them; From All of Us!

Warrior of Stage 3c breast cancer 05/19

Hi, saw your Facebook post, I would love a piece of artwork. I'm from Marlborough,  MA. I was diagnosed with stage 3C inflammatory breast cancer, a relatively rare form of breast cancer 5/3/19. I'm currently being treated with chemo to shrink the tumor for a non skin sparing mastectomy, after which I will undergo 7 weeks of daily radiation.

I have 2 adult daughters and a 12 year old son, 4 grandchildren plus one daughter is expecting twins early next year so I have every reason to fight for my life!

I've lost far too many friends and family to cancer already.  I lost my mom to lung cancer in 2018 and my brother to pancreatic cancer in 2016. I'll be damned if I let my kids lose me anytime soon!

I'm determined to beat this, fighting with every fiber of my being. I'm taking better care of myself and keeping a positive attitude.  I think this is a beautiful thing you're offering and I would love a piece of your artwork. Thanks for your consideration.

Meet Alicia Marie Howell.
Warrior of Breast Cancer
Painting Request - "Light unto my path"

From her daughter, Melanthe (19yo)
Alicia Maria (Pierce) Howell is a beautiful and vivacious 41yo woman. She is also my mother and mother to my four younger brothers.

I was five years old when she was diagnosed with stage 2B breast cancer and underwent a mastectomy, after that enrolling in a five year clinical trial. In 2017 [while pregnant with baby #5] she was diagnosed again with osteobarcoma in her collarbone as a result of the radiation used in treating her breast cancer.

The protocol for her newest desease was extreme. 8 weeks inpatient chemotherapy and then a surgery which removed part of her bone and sternum, complete with a 2 week recovery stay in the hospital, all while raising a newborn and taking care of the rest of her children.

Today she is cancer free! She still suffers from effects from her surgeries and treatments. She is a BRAVE SURVIVOR who pursues on, and fights for, one more day to be with me and her children.

Her [painting] that will illustrate how she has felt God leading her throughout the years.

Psalm 139: 11-12
If I say, "Surely the darkness shall cover me and even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from me; but the night shineth as the day; the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

Psalm 119:105
"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path"

Note.. Please continue to keep Alicia in your Prayers, as scans and tests continue to keep her aware of new problems. She is an amazing mother, soulful, wise, and faces every new problem with an unshakable faith. She is so smart, she's an amazing piano player, has home schooled her children and taught them to play piano as well. This family faces everything as one, with Alicia on the Frontline waiting to fight for them. I am so inspired by her and can't wait to finish her painting.
